November sparkle in Kings Quarter
The countdown begins in mid November as Kings Quarter lights up with festive activity. Our Tree of Light will shine proudly from Saturday 15 November, with a special switch on at 5.30pm. Expect live music and a special appearance from a BBC Radio Gloucestershire presenter as we start the season in style.
On Saturday 22 November, follow the yellow brick road during our Wicked Walkabout event. Magical characters will roam Kings Quarter with surprises and prizes for those who join the adventure. Then, on Saturday 29 November, look out for roller skating Christmas presents gliding through the streets and spreading festive joy with fast feet and even faster smiles.
Magical moments from 1 to 14 December
The first half of December brings even more family friendly fun across Kings Quarter. On Sunday 6 December, enjoy festive performances from the Gloucestershire Libraries Choir at Eastgate Shopping Centre. Santa will be visiting too, meeting families across the centre and wandering Kings Quarter with his cheerful helpers. Keep your eyes peeled for our bouncing elves, who will be popping up spreading laughter and festive mischief. It is also Small Business Saturday, so it is the perfect time to show love to your favourite local independents.
Santa will return on Thursday 11 December at Eastgate and Kings Walk, ready to greet little ones and soak up the seasonal excitement. Then, on Saturday 13 December, we welcome a very special visit from our British Sign Language Santa, ensuring all families can enjoy the magic. Join Eastgate once again for performances by the Gloucestershire Police Choir, and challenge yourself on our fun and free Snowboard Simulator. The day continues with the Santa Fun Run kicking off outside the new university building in Kings Square, with registration opening at 9.30am.
Festive fun from 15 to 25 December
As Christmas Day approaches, our celebrations continue with more visits from Santa and festive entertainment throughout Kings Quarter. On Thursday 18 December, Santa returns to Eastgate and Kings Walk to greet families and pose for those precious keepsake photos. On Saturday 20 December, the much loved British Sign Language Santa is once again at Eastgate, alongside the Salvation Army Brass Band and Choir who will fill the centre with joyful music. You can also meet Lairy Fairy and the Christmas Puddings as they spread fun and laughter across Kings Quarter. Do not miss Sofa Driving Santa at Eastgate as he cruises around meeting families and sharing smiles from his cosy festive sofa.
The excitement continues on Monday 22 December with another visit from our British Sign Language Santa. Then, on Wednesday 24 December, catch Santa one final time before he heads off to deliver presents around the world. From Eastgate to Kings Walk, he will be waving goodbye and wishing everyone a very happy Christmas Eve.
Finally, we reach the big day itself. Christmas Day arrives at Kings Quarter, and we would like to wish our community a warm and joyful celebration.
