Making Visiting Easy for Everyone
At King’s Quarter we think it is very important that we cater for every visitor and no one is excluded from having the best experience when they arrive. In order for us to ensure everyone can enjoy their visit we have made our portfolio as inclusive as possible.
If you have suggestions for how we can improve the experience, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Certificate in Dementia Awareness
During Dementia Awareness Week (13th to 19th May 2024), King’s Walk hosted the Alzheimer’s Society, allowing the charity to spread awareness and educate members of the public on the condition and the support available.
Following on from this (between 26th June and 4th July 2024), employees from across our sites, as well as City Protection Officers (CPOs) from Gloucester City Safe, Gloucestershire Constabulary and Kier Construction, undertook three dementia awareness training sessions aimed at championing inclusivity and support for individuals experiencing an ongoing decline of brain function. The completion of this training has led to the retail sites being awarded a Certificate in Community Dementia Awareness by One Gloucestershire.

Certificate in Deaf Awareness
King’s Quarter is one of the first retail and leisure portfolio’s in the UK where staff have undertaken deaf awareness training. The training was delivered via local charity, Gloucestershire Deaf Association and resulted in our team being awarded with a Certificate in Deaf Awareness.
The training course was meticulously designed for maximum effectiveness based on the charity’s extensive experience working with businesses and groups. According to statistics from RNID, approximately 12 million adults in the UK are deaf or have hearing loss.

OUR CERTIFICATES

Chatty Benches
Visitors to King’s Square in Gloucester are encouraged to connect with others through a new initiative aimed at reducing loneliness and social isolation. The ‘chatty benches’ scheme is a collaboration between King’s Walk, and Swindon & Gloucestershire Mind.
Each bench is marked with a sign inviting people to take a seat and engage in conversation, with the message: “A small connection can have a huge impact on someone’s day. Take a seat and have a chat.”

Quiet Hour Shopping Coming Soon!
At King’s Quarter, we’re committed to creating a welcoming environment for everyone. That’s why we’re introducing our special “Quiet Hour” — a peaceful shopping experience designed for those who prefer a calmer atmosphere. During this time, the centre will lower noise levels, dim the lighting, and reduce any unnecessary distractions, ensuring a more comfortable environment for visitors who may feel overwhelmed in busier settings.
